Rashida Jones is an American actress, director, producer, and writer, also known by her born name Rashida Leah Jones. She was born in Los Angeles, California, United States on February 25, 1976. She is the daughter of father Quincy Jones, a record producer, and mother Peggy Lipton, an actress, who died in 2019.

Jones has an older sister Kidada Jones, an actress, and she has five half-siblings Quincy Jones III, Kenya Kinski-Jones, Jolie Jones Levine, Martina Jones, and Rachel Jones. She studied at Hebrew School and then she joined The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks. She enrolled at Harvard University, where she graduated with a degree in philosophy and religion in 1997.
